Only two different snakes were listed in the Overland Track booklet: the white-lipped snake (light grey, about 0.5m long) and the darker tiger snake. The one here was clearly not light grey and longer than 1m. Difficult to say if it was the same as on the picture in the booklet: "While snake-bite is not common, a tiger snake bite can be deadly" and I assume there are other (venemous) species in Tasmania ... it's anyway better not to make the bite-test! This was the sixth of a total of seven snakes that we have seen since we are in Australia.
