View over Brisbane River, the red arrow indicates KPMG offices Kangaroo Point

Along the right river bank there are cliffs, about 20 meters high, stretching out over several hundred meters offering more than 200 offical climbing routes (bolted and unbolted). Floodlit by night, the rock faces are a spectacular backdrop to the City Botanic Gardens and are a distinctive feature in the riverscape and in the cityscape. For sport climbers, most climbs are bolted albeit the first bolts at Kangaroo Point are notoriously high! It is only a 5-minute bike ride from where we live. If we are not on holiday I am climbing or bouldering there once or twice per week. When looking up in the sky at dawn you can observe hundreds of bats with a wingspan of about one meter flying over the cliffs from north-east to south-west.
