"Take 7L of water per person per day and 180L of diesel" were other recommendations at the Ranger Station in Birdsville

We were a bit worried, because from east to west the sand dunes are steeper and more difficult to traverse and we originally opted for the more southern, presumably easier route, the Rig Road - but this one was closed due to flooding for several months. Consequently, there was only one option, the French Line in combination with the QAA Line. We purchased a desert pass and the lady at the information centre told us "We only expect a little bit of rain tomorrow, but you should pass Eyre Creek already today and then you are fine. There are some salt pans (lakes) with obvious detours, just take these".
